Static or humming

Most noise comes from the power adapter. Use the 5V adapter that came with your cell phone. Cheap aftermarket adapters add noise. You can also lower the power draw by pressing 71# on the home phone keypad to reduce the off hook power, then unplug and replug the power. See the 5V power adapter.

No sound at all, but ringing and dialing work

Make sure your cell phone audio setting is on Auto or Bluetooth. See answer on your cell phone.

Sound too quiet, or no ring

If your home phone has its own power supply, plug that in and use it. You can also raise the off hook power. See settings.

Broken or choppy sound

  • Update the firmware and lower the cell phone Bluetooth microphone volume to the minimum. Some phones set it too high, which distorts sound. See firmware update.
  • Reboot your cell phone. Bluetooth audio on some phones gets stuck after a long time on.
  • If your home phone has Bluetooth built in, turn that off. It interferes with the call.
