If your home phone rings for incoming calls but will not place a call, work through these three cases.
Case 1: the dial tone stops but no call goes out
Dial all 10 digits, including the area code, or press # after the number to send the call.
Case 2: the dial tone will not go away while you dial
Some older phones send key tones that are too weak or too loud. Adjust the off hook power on the home phone keypad:
- 72#
- Lower the off hook power, if the dial tone is too loud.
- 74#
- Raise the off hook power, if the dial tone is too weak.
Case 3: incoming calls ring but you still cannot dial out
Make sure your cell phone is not asleep. Some phones turn Bluetooth off in sleep mode. Keep the cell phone plugged in to power and turn off sleep. More on codes is in settings.
