Keep your old landline number
You had that number for years. It is in a lot of places, and people know it. You can keep it and still cancel the landline bill.
One thing to know: Cell2Jack does not move your number for you. Your cell carrier or a porting service does that part. Cell2Jack then rings your home phones through your cell service.
Two ways to move your number
1. Ask your cell carrier for a new SIM
Every major carrier can move your old landline number onto a new SIM card. Adding a SIM to your plan usually costs $10 to $20. Put that SIM in an old phone, pair it to Cell2Jack, and set it down.
2. Use a number transfer service
Some companies move a landline number to a cell phone for you. Two the old site pointed to:
Doing it yourself
You can start the transfer with your carrier. Tell them you are moving a landline number so they set it up the right way. A landline to cell transfer usually takes one to a few business days. Do not cancel your old service until the carrier confirms the transfer is done.
- AT&T: Check if your number can move on the Transfer Your Number page, then start the transfer from your account.
- T-Mobile: Call (800) 375-1126. A landline transfer can take 2 to 10 business days.
- Verizon: Start a new line and choose to transfer your number from another carrier, online or in a store.
