The maker says the product is mature and most people never need a firmware update. You can change nearly every setting from the home phone keypad with no computer at all. Only update if support tells you to, or a fix here asks for it.

Find your hardware version

The version number is printed on the back of the Cell2Jack box. Some fixes depend on it.

Download the update file for your computer

A Windows update utility exists but is not linked here yet while we confirm it is still current.

How the update works

  1. Download the update file for your computer, above.
  2. Plug Cell2Jack into the computer USB port using the short USB cable, into the 5V in port. Plug it straight in, not through a USB hub.
  3. Reboot the computer with Cell2Jack plugged in, then run the utility and follow the on-screen steps. It can take a few minutes and may say it cannot find the device before it does.
  4. When it finishes, pair Cell2Jack to your cell phone again. Wait about a minute for the red light to flash, then pick Cell2Jack in your cell phone Bluetooth settings.

If Windows cannot see the device

Some PCs need a USB serial driver, called CH340, before the utility can find Cell2Jack. Install the CH340 driver, a short guide from SparkFun. Anti-virus software, such as Norton, can also block the utility, so you may need to turn it off for a moment while it runs.
