You can keep using a home answering machine. The trick is which one picks up first, the machine or your cell voicemail.

If you want the home machine to answer before your cell voicemail does, set the machine to pick up one ring sooner than your voicemail.

For example, if your cell voicemail picks up at 6 rings, set your answering machine to pick up at 5 rings.
